This is more than a getaway it’s a spiritual homecoming. Inspired by the legacy of King Najashi, who offered refuge to the first Muslims, this retreat invites aspiring, new, Black, Afro Indigenous, Afro Caribbean, and African Muslims to find sanctuary in the Motherland. We gather on the shores of Ghana to engage in a profound journey of Tawheed (Oneness) and ancestral healing, reconnecting faith to heritage on a land that birthed resilience.

The SHAHADAH SANCTUARY is a dedicated safe space for deep spiritual, emotional, and creative renewal, preparing the heart to be a lifelong vessel for the Light of Islam.

✨ Our Pillars of Healing & Connection

This unique journey is built on three core pillars, woven into daily spiritual practice, cultural immersion, and creative expression:

  1. Spiritual Sanctuary & Devotion:

    • Daily Sessions: Engaging in Quran study, practical Fiqh (jurisprudence) for new Muslims, and profound reflections on the names of Allah (Asma ul Husna).

    • Communal Prayer: Establishing a rhythm of worship, including dedicated Tahajjud (night prayer) and powerful Dhikr (remembrance of Allah) circles.

    • The Najashi Legacy: Deep dives into the history of the first Hijra to Abyssinia and the meaning of sanctuary in Islam.

  2. Healing on the Land & Ancestral Remembrance:

    • Cultural Immersion: Guided excursions that connect us to the rich Islamic history of West Africa and the difficult, yet resilient, history of the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

    • The Door of No Return: A sacred, reflective, and carefully facilitated day trip to the historic castles for emotional and spiritual reckoning (Ibrah).

    • Connecting with Community: Interactions and service with local Ghanaian Muslim communities.

  3. Creative Expression & Self-Discovery (Shahadah Studios):

    • Creative Workshops: Healing through art, poetry, and storytelling sessions led by Muslim artists, designed to help new Muslims articulate their spiritual journey and build creative skills.

    • Journaling & Reflection: Dedicated time and guidance for introspection, meditation, and developing a practice of self-accountability (Muhasabah).

    • Sisterhood/Brotherhood: Cultivating lifelong bonds within a supportive, inclusive, and empowering global Ummah. This event description is crafted to be powerful, evocative, and directly relevant to the themes of refuge, heritage, and healing central to SHAHADAH Inc.'s mission.
