Shahadah Sessions: Marriage Advice 2025
Guided Discussions: The Foundations of Islamic Marriage 🤲
STARTING Sunday, November 24th
This three-part series is designed as an in-depth, guided exploration into establishing, nurturing, and maintaining a successful marriage in Islam. We move beyond cultural norms to focus on the spiritual, practical, and ethical foundations prescribed by the Quran and Sunnah. Our goal is to equip participants with the tools to build a God-centered partnership founded on affection (mawaddah), mercy (rahmah), and mutual fulfillment.
What We Will Cover in Depth:
Setting Realistic Expectations & The Divine Covenant: We will unpack the true purpose of marriage in Islam—not just as a social contract but as a sacred covenant. This session focuses on understanding realistic expectations by rooting them firmly in Islamic teachings, distinguishing between religious principles and societal pressures. We'll discuss how to align individual goals with the shared goal of seeking Allah's pleasure.
Rights, Responsibilities, and Communication as Worship: This session tackles the crucial rights and responsibilities of both spouses. We’ll explore the concepts of complementary roles, focusing on mutual respect rather than dominance. A significant portion will be dedicated to effective communication—learning how to discuss sensitive topics, negotiate roles, manage conflict with kindness (ma'ruf), and ensure both partners feel heard and valued in the partnership.
Building a God-Centered Partnership & Sustaining Love: The final session focuses on the long-term vitality of the marriage. We will discuss practical ways to maintain spiritual synergy, support each other’s Deen, and ensure that daily life—from finances to household duties—is integrated into the framework of Ibadah (worship). We will share strategies for keeping love, compassion, and tranquility alive through the inevitable challenges of life.
Session Dates & Time (5:00 PM - 6:00 PM EST):
